Appear with sharp uniform, neat and tidy. Use mouth freshness if requited. Be short and precise with answer. choose answer  in what you are trained and familiar with a and not watt you like or dislike unless asked to do so.Be confident on your persons. Always be polite and salute the interviewer. Wait to be asked sit down etc. He/ she likely to ask your question about your post in the police force so be clear about it. They may ask about your family your interests and other question. It is important you have normal eye contact with the interviewer. Do not look around when being asked question be direct but do no stare. If you are asked question that requited dates do not use Nepali dates to state information. Try with most questions follow the question up with a little more formation but not too much.

Well, I did my schooling at Neelkantha Secondary School in Dhading.

I finished my SLC in the year 1999 or It was the year 1999 when I finished my SLC.

How far is your home from the capital city?

It is nearly 100 kms far from the capital city

How do you usually travel to your hometown and how long does it take to reach there ?

Well, I usually travel to my hometown 110 kms by bus and 5 kms on foot. It take 6 hours to reach there.

How developed is your village?

My village is not very developed. There is one Secondary School but there are one 6 Primary schools, one Post Office and 6 Health Clinics. A pitch road that connect to the district headquarters was built with public participation. Clean drinking water supply is also available there now. However, there is electric distributed in my village.

Are you married ?

How long have you been married ?

No, I haven't got married or It has been almost 3 years now?

Describe to me what your home is like.

My house is small. It is made of rocks, mud, wood, and tin. It is two storied and four rooms. It is a typical Nepali house.

I am sorry. I haven't had the opportunity to go on a mission.

I go to Pokhara, When I get there, I go on boating, paragliding and sightseeing.

The happiest day of my life is when I Passed SLC in First Division

How do you usually travel to your hometown and how long does it take to reach there ?

Well, I usually travel my hometown 6 hours by bus and 2 hours in foot  and it takes nearly 8 hours to rich there.

Was it love marriage or arranged marriage ?

It was arranged marriage./It was love marriage.

Why did you prefer arranged marriage?

Sir in an arranged marriage there is timely understanding and it is traditionally recognized, that is why I prefer arranged marriage as most Nepalese's do.

What does your spouse do ?

She is a Teacher.

Yes. I have a Daughter. She is four years old.

I have 4 brother and two sisters.

Well, my brother have various jobs and sisters have already married.

Well, I am ................ I com From Dhading, the Central Part of Nepal. I am 30 Years Old and am marred. I have a child, a daughter. I have been in the Police Service for 10 years now.   

Why do you want to participate in the mission ?

The Armed Police Force (APF) are working as peacekeepers  in many countries, It is a pride for us to participate in different conflict areas as a peacekeeper. Our organization has trained us and if we get the opportunity we could contribute our services according to the United nation Nations mandate. It is a very prestigious opportunity to participate in peacekeeping mission. It would also be an opportunity for me to earn some income family whilst experiencing a new environment.

How did the Darfur conflict starts?

It all started when Omar al-Bashir came in to Darfur and tried to take control presidency. Omar was a dictator and of course the people in Darfur didn't like it so they took control in their hands and fought back against him. Omar then brought in his own rebels to attack. Once he got total control everything started going downhill for people in Darfur.

What does the UN do in Darfur?
UN peace keepers have been sent to keep peace between the Darfurians (who have done nothing) and the Janjaweed (hired by the Sudanese Government to exterminate the Darfurians) they only problems there is what the UN peacekeepers cannot fire their weapons unless being fired upon. Since it is the Darfurians who are shot at and killed  there is no a lot peace keepers con do. They can only help to protect the people of Darfur.

Where is Darfur ?

Darfur is a reason in Western Sudan (formerly a independent sultanate) approximately the size of France. The population in Darfur is 8.5 million peoples of which 2.5 million had to relocate.

Tell me something about you and your job experience? ( as sample reply)

 I was born in Dhading District of Nepal . It is around 110 ksm far  from Kathmandu. I did schooling at Neelkantha Secondary School. I have passed Master Degree in Humanities & Social Science from Tribhuwan University of Nepal. I was join in APF in 2004 as Assistant Sub Inspector and I promoted in Sub Inspector in 2007. Now I am working in APF Head Quarters. .....................

What is the condition of human rights in your country ?

 I think it is better than previously because when the king was ruling this country people had limited opportunity and during the Maoist conflict there were a lot of case of human rights violation recorded by both sides. The situation now is quite different now all the political parties are in the process of making a new constitution and they are aware of people's rights.

What is community policing ?

Community Policing is basically working at close hand/ close to/ with the community in an effort to built up trust and relationships. This in turn may help with information you are able to recover from local people but is not the main reason. The main reason in to try to maintain peaceful to existence between the local people and the UN forces.
            Community policing or neighborhood  policing is policing strategy and philosophy based in the notion that community interaction and support can help control crime and reduce fear. With community members helping to identify suspects. Detain vandals and bring problems to the attention of police. community policing philosophy that promotes organizational strategies support the systematic use of partnership and problems solving techniques which proactively address the immediate condition that give rise to public safety issues such as crime social disorder and fear of crime.

Community Policing consists of three key components; What are community partnerships ?

Collaborative partnerships between the low enforcement agency and the individuals and organizations they serve to develop solutions to problems and increase trust in police. These partnership are forged in conjunction with other government agencies community members and groups. Human and social providers,  private business and the media.

What is Organization Transformation ?

The alignment of a law enforcement agency's organization management practices. Structure, personal and information system to support community partnerships and proactive problem solving. Police Departments engaged in effective community policing seek to transform their  organization culture. Leadership and management structure, labor, relations, strategic, planning process, how they evaluate performance, the transparency of their operations, the geographic assignment of officers, the alignment of their fiscal resources, recruitment and hiring practices, training and information gathering system. The objective of these changes is to create an organization infrastructures that can best support proactive operations intended to prevent crime. Traditional law enforcement practices are reactive and emphasize measure such as response times. Arrest rates, and other rote responses to crime. Community policing theory encourages police to proactively solve community problems and address the factors that contributes to crime rather than how contribute to the reduction crime. Though this transformation theoretically reflect the background of American policing  and contributes to he reduction in crime. The transformation was often awkward, especially in the 1980 and 90s when many department saw it as diminishing their authority and opportunity to work independently. It required, fundamentally, a shift from police departments, particularly big-city police departments seeing "Law enforcement" as a mission to seeing it as tool in public safety.
Problem Solving: The process of engaging in the proactive and systematic examination of identified problems to developed and rigorously evaluate effective responses. Community policing requires police to become proficient in what known as the SARC model of problem solving, Scanning, identifying and prioritizing problems. Analysis researching what is known about the problems. Response : Developing solutions to bring about lasting reductions in the number and extent of problems. Assessment: Evaluating the access of the responses. It is extremely important that the police officer encourages their citizens to get out there and get involved. When officers are stating up neighborhood watches of gibing a town meeting about community policing they need  get the citizen fired about helping. They must let the citizens know how important they are to the success of community policing. They must let the citizens know how important they are to the success of community policing. The police department need to create special bureaus or divisions with staff responsibility and fulltime personnel to coordinate the community relations activities of the department. This means that the departments need to have a staff that the develops activities that will keep the public busy and interested in community policing. These activities can be anything from setting up a baseball game with either citizen against officers of mixture of each on each team to just social gatherings where citizens and police get together perhaps once a month and just mingle. This is a way that the citizens can get to know the police officers in their community and also make friends with them as well as one that con either strike the interest of the citizens that are not already involved in community policing depends greatly on being able to balance the power between police officers and citizens and officers. The police must listen to their citizens and take in to consideration their ideas and solution when they are deciding upon what to do with problems that come up. In order to keep the citizens involved and with helping them the officers need to word with the people and no listen to them idly then come up with their own solutions f what they are going to do. The power must be proven to equal when community policing is considered. or  Community policing is policing for the people in partnership with the people where policing act as co-coordinator and manager in the community. It is a proactive police management. It provides door to door service to the people. It is based on decentralization of power and good governance. The basic idea is to create bonds of trust and reliance between police and public.

What are you doing at the moment ?

I am working at my office. I am a police radio operator so I work at administration  section as a computer operator.

What is gender equality ?

Every human being is divided into masculine and feminine gender by birth. In the Nepalese society, there is no equality between tow genders, Females are dominated by males. Wives are beaten by their husbands. There is no practical rule in such domestic violence. Government should think about the gender equality especially on their work. In my opinion, there is clearly written about gender equality in the interim constitution of Nepal but we don't get its proper implementation in the practical because of illiteracy, traditional Nepalese Culture and superstition.

Here is too difficult to work, here is no any facilities, could you work here?

Of course sir, it is my great opportunity to get to work here. I work very hard so that I can adjust to manage to pick up some difficulties I am growing in poor family. So I can easily adjust there. If I am selected, I will do my best to perform all activities satisfactory.

How do you drive in the hilly area?

We must check break, accelerator, gears, fuel and other important part of the vehicle before driving in the hilly area. If all things are in good condition, then we can drive in the hilly area but speed should not be high. We have to be careful on the different traffic  signal and modes of the hilly roads. Our concentration must be focused on the driving.

What is intelligence?

Intelligence is a ability that explains the information analyzed and relevant information which is helpful in making decisions.
Process of  intelligence: Requirements, playing and direction, collection processing and exploitation, analysis and production and dissemination.

What do you know about crime investigation ?
      1.       Protect the crime scene.
      2.       Protect the physical evidence and sent for the laboratory test.
      3.       prepare the essential legal documents which are related to the crime.
      4.       Tress out the eyewitness or witness,
      5.       Take the written statement with witness.
      6.       Finally, we should refer the case to the related court in time.

What is UN peacekeeping Operation ?

The peace keeping operation means the military operations conducted in the area of conflict under the  command of UN.

What types of work you like to do or prefer? Why ?

I like to work in crime investigation information collection and community police because in my prepared field.

What is the role of VIVPOL in UN Peacekeeping operation ?

The verbal aim of UN peacekeeping operation is to maintain law and order in a particular area of conflict.

What do you do if you are selected in UN mission ?

Human rights is a natural, basic and fundamental right, which makes every individuals, enjoys his life freely without violating others right and freedom.

Tell me in your own words what you think is a human right violation ?

A human rights violation is an act, which causes severe suffering to people under pressure it's a brutal act.

What is the role of police for protection of the human rights ?

We know government is the most powerful body of the state. Police Organization is the important organ of the Government. It is the main part of the body of the government from the security point of view. It always tries to control crime and maintain law and order therefore, it is called a law enforcement agency. There is great chance of violation of human right when police don't perform their work honestly ads sincerely. If police every work in the favour of human rights, there will be as very less change of violation of human rights. So police play great role for the protection of the human rights.

Why did you join in police force ? / why did you deiced to become police officer ?

I decided to become police officer because I wanted to serve people. I love to serve society. Being a police officer I could control crime & contribute to my country for peace & and security maintenance.

What is human rights abuse ?

Human right abuse is when the use of force is exerted by government to maintain power or controlling others with or without their consent.

What is domestic Violence ?

Violence toward or physical abuse of one's spouse or domestic partner. Domestic violence encompasses a range of actions, including assault, battery rape and murder committed by someone to whom the victim is intimately related. Intimate relations include spouses, sexual partner, children, siblings, extended family members and dating relationship. Although victims of domestic violence include both man and women females are affected disproportionately. According to the surgeon general domestic Violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the United State. Historically, social and cultural responses to domestic violence have been complex. American have differed over what behaviours constitute abuse, to whom responsibility should be assigned and what relief victim should service. The evolution of legal doctrines concerning domestic violence has been predicated on the question of whether abuse committed by intimate relations constitutes am matter of provide or public concern. A movement to define protection from domestic violence as a civil right entitled to constitutional protection  emerged at the end of the twentieth century.

What do you mean by SAAT ?  

 A Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT) is a team of AMS instructors sent by the United Nations to MSs to conduct an AMS.

When did you Join the APF?

Well, I joined in 2004 as Assistant Sub Inspector.

Basically what duties do you have perform ?

Well, basically I work in the administration department. So I have to keep all the ongoing record up to date. Sometime I have perform various duties as I am armed Police personnel when it is necessary.

What short of Training have you undertaken/undergone so far ?

Well, I have undergone various training such as basic training, Counter insurgency and commando, crowd and riot control etc.

How many types of weapons can you handle ?

I can handle point there naught there rifle, pistol and revolver, SLR, LMG, SMG, Inshas, etc.

Have you ever done Security duties ?

Well, Yes. I have performed security on several occasions.

What factors should you bear in mind bear in mind while doing VIP Security Duties?

First of all have to analyze the threats and evaluate it. Then I have to think what type of precaution I should take. I should observe all situations to safeguard his life. Besides, I have to find out certain weaknesses of VIP. I am guarding. Then I should always maintain secrecy and keep the radio set in good condition in case of any immediate danger. I should seven shoot the suspects to save the life of VIP, These are a few golden principles of security.

How many place have you visited during your service tenure so far ?

I have visited many regions and districts of my country during my service tenure.

Well I have been in India./ I haven't got that opportunity so far.

Well, Yes I fought an open competition for the post of ASI 2 years ago but the result was not as per my expectation.

What made you decide to join-to-join the police department?

Well, a police is a vital instrument of law and order in the society and it was my longing desire to work as police personnel and serve the society and the nation that's the reason why I Joined the  Police department.

Can you tell me about the uniform worn by armed police?

Well, basically the armed police personnel have to wear different types of uniform. For outdoor duty, they generally wear combat gear and for official or indoor duty they generally wear cotton or woolen brown green colored shirt and parts which dark green Beret cap, boots and green belt. They are allowed to wear the various types of uniform according to the season and duty.

What are the promotion system of various rank in the police department?

Promotion is awarded to a police personnel through-
Open Competition and Internal department promotion system-
There are some criteria in open competition such as qualification, physical exercise and medical fitness, This is only for senior and junior officer. 
Departmental promotion system - In this system a person is awarded promotion on the basic of seniority, experience, qualifications, number of training undergone, good performance and conduct. Honorary promotion is awarded only in terms of medal.

What qualities are required to be good police personnel?

The good police personnel must be disciplined, hardworking, honest, duty-bound, loyal, decisive, and versatile in his duties.

What types of crime is committed more often in your country and why?

Mainly there are two type of crime committed more often on my country. They are theft and murder or homicide. Theft case occurs mainly because there are many jobless people who do not have any source of income. Murder cases also vary from situation to situation. Some cases are tradition oriented due to dowry and all that, Some cases occur because of frustration and failure in life, I suppose.

What have you learned from you senior officer so far ?

Our senior officers are always helpful to the junior. I have learned to be always disciplined, duty-bound, honest and alert from our senior officer.

What major changes have taken place in the police department after the restoration of democracy in 1990?

There have been a lot of changes in the police department since the restoration of democracy in 1990. Mainly the relationship between the community and the police has been developed. There is co-ordination between public and the police in in maintaining the human rights condition in the society.

Tell me something about your job experience ?

Well, I have achieved a lot of experiences during my tenure in armed police department. I have performed crime investigation, patrolling, and security duties on several occasions.

What basic differences are there between police personnel and civil servant?

Basically, a police personnel as a vital instrument for reinforcement and is more devoted to the nation than a civil servant. He has to do round clock jobs and he is rather isolated from the family and the common public. However, a civil servant is of a police personnel through both the civil servant and the police have a abide by the civic norms and condition of the nation, the police were the uniform whereas a civil servant does not. A loyal civil servant always helps the police to maintain the peace and security in the society.

Whit is saluting.

Well, saluting is a body and hand gesture to show respect honor or regard to the senior.

What are the basic facilities provided to the armed personnel?

The Armed police personnel are provided with food, clothing, lodging, medicines, monthly salary, and other allowance. They get lifelong pension after their retirement.
What are the criteria to join the armed police department ?
Well, there are several criteria to join the armed police department. Firstly, he/she has to be physically and mentally fit as per the required height, length of the chest etc. His/her color blindness is also checked medically. Besides, he/she must be a Nepalese nationality without any  criminal offense recorded against him.

Tell me something about your country?

Well. Nepal is a tiny Himalayan state. It is situated in South East Asia sandwiched between India to the South and China to the North. There are nearly 20 million people of diverse communities and their main occupation is agriculture. Our country is very famous for the highest mountain Everest, Lumbini, the place of Lord Buddha, Gorkha, soldiers for their indisputable bravery. Our country is very wealthy in natural flora and fauna and cultural heritage. The form the government is constitutional since the restoration of democracy in 1990.

If I come to your country as a tourist, what things you will how me and why?

Well, if you come to my country is a tourist, first of all I will take you to some religious sacred places such as Pashupatinath, Boudhanatha and Swayambhunath. These place are very famous for Hindu people. During our visit we will observer our Nepalese traditional architecture as well as the culture. Then I will guide to some places of historical interest such as Bhaktpur, patan, and Hanumandhoka. We may also visit Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha, recently a Pagoda is also built there for world peace. We can also visit Pokahra which is very famous for tourist point view. Our way back home, we may visit Chitawan National Park where we can for jungle you are interested.

What are the main tourist attractions on your country ?

The main tourist attraction in my country are mountain, peaks and natural flora and fauna. The highest MT Everest is one among the most famous that attracts thousands of tourist every year. Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha is also one of the attractions besides Nepalese temple, monasteries, culture and traditions, festivals and carnivals are attracted by our wonderful trekking trails.

We have a number of National symbols in our country such as :

Well, farming is the main occupation of the people of our country 90% people are involved in the agriculture in our country. However, with the advent of education in recent year, many people are involved in business and industries too.

Where is Lumbini situated in Nepal and why it is famous ?

Lumbini is situated in Kapilbastu district in southern part of Nepal. It is famous because Lord Buddha was born here some 2500 years ago. It is now a pilgrimage not only for the Buddhist but also for the people of all religions. A pagoda for world peace of built there recently.

Can you tell me something about Lord Pashupatinath Temple ?

The Lord Pashupatinath means the master of animals. The temple of Lord Pashupatinath is situated by the river Bagamati in  the capital city, Kathmandu it, is the holiest place of all Hindus.

What do you know about the living Goddess, kumara?
Kumari is living Goddess is a virgin young girl offered to god we worship her as Goddess kumari. She remains in the temple till she is 11 to 13 and again another kumara will be offered on a specific ceremonial occasion.
Can you describe one of the main festival celebrated in your country ?
Dashain is the main festival celebrated in our country, it is observed for ten days to commemorate the victory of Goddess Durga over demons. During this festival a ten day long worship is performed in the name of Goddess Durga, the power of Goddess Durga, Children are clad with new dresses during this worship. We visit our relation and receive tika, a symbol of blessing. Besides, we prepare various delicious dishes and enjoy a great deal.

How do you introduce Nepal to the foreigners?

If I ever come across foreigners, I will introduce Nepal Firstly highest mountain MT Everest and other mountains are the pride of our country. Besides, our country is very wealthy in natural flora and fauna, tradition, culture, festivals and carnivals. Nepal is also famous for unquestionable bravery of Grokha soldiers. Then I will also tell them that Nepal is considered as the only Hindu kingdom in the world. However, it is secular in practice.

What form of government does your country have?

Our country has the Constitutional System of Government.




In your opinion what is the democracy ?

Democracy is the form of government where the people choose their leaders to represent them in the government. It is for the people by the people and to the people, according to the great president Lincoln of America;

Why do the Hindus worship the cows ?

We worship the cow as mother, because according to Hindu Mythology, cow has always fed us people with her milk her dung is used to purify the worship spot of all occasions.

Tell me about the cast system of Nepal ?

Well, basically there are four castes in our country. They are Brahmin, Chhetri, Viasha, and Sudra. These castes have several other sub castes and ethnic groups.

What is the biggest social problem in your country?

well, in my option, dowry system is the biggest problems in our country. If has generated a lot of crimes thought it is traditionally recognized. Recently a bill has been passed and amended in our constitution that no family should use force in giving or taking any of dowry. However the state of affair still prevails among many families both literate and illiterate ones. So this has become a big social problem in our society.
           

            Tell me what the procedure is for obtaining a driving license in your country ?

Well, it's fairly simple. First of all; we have to fill out the form by providing proper identification evidence and sit for the written test. Secondly, a trial is conducted with related category. Finally, if he or she gets through in all the tests a valid driving license is provided.

What would you regard as the most significant even in your country's recent history?

The restoration of democracy through mass movement of 2nd general strike in 2006 is the most significant event in my county's recent history.
In your option what are the most serious problems associated with the modern city life.
Well, I think the shortage of water, load shedding increasing rate of crimes, traffic disorder; frequent accidents are the most serious problem associated with modern city life.

What do you know visit Nepal  year 2011/VNY 11?

Well, our country is a tourism oriented country and the economy of our country also partially depends on this industry. The programmed, Visit Nepal year 2011 is another feather in the cap, I suppose. As many as 30,000 tourist are expected to visit during VNY 2011 according to the concerned ministry. As a result, the country will earn a lot of foreign exchange. Many jobless people will get employment opportunities. Moreover Nepal will be recognized in international arena.

Tell me something about mother Teresa?

Mother Teresa was the mother of all the sick, disabled and deprived ones. She was born in Albania and Migrated to Yugoslavia. At the age of sixteen she came to Calcutta, India and opened a charity home for the sick an helpless orphans. She provided her service there as a superior for lifetime. Later she died of heart disease at the age of 84. Her successor Norma Didi has now taken over the charge of charity home after the Mother's demise.



What is the difference between your hometown and the capital city?

Well, my hometown has a considerable population; all the basic needs are not provided so the developmental works are rather slow. However, it is very peaceful and the environment is very fresh and healthy as compared to that of Kathmandu's environment whereas Kathmadu is very much populated and all the facilities are available here. In recent year people are less interested to migrate in to the valley due to increasing pollution.

Well, I read  The Kthamndu Post, The Himaliyan times and Anaapurna post .
What is the current issue is the world today?
So far as my knowledge is concerned the current issue in the world is the issue of population. The world today is gripped in the claws of Pollution resulting in global warming.

What is the reason for war in Bosnia?

Bosnia is a fragment of former Yugoslavia. Through it is an independent part; there has been war from the very beginning. Basically the war is for power as to which of the three would lead the government. Three ethnic groups namely Muslims, Serbs and Croats always clash among themselves thereby causing the civil war took place. As a result the growth rate has decreased and there is devaluation of money consequently, unemployment has increased and of living of the people has gone down.

How do you known about the current situation in Bosnia?

Well, I often read newspaper, listen to the radio, and watch TV for latest national and international news. I also consult the personnel who have already been in Bosnia that's all.

What is the current situation in Bosnia?
There has been internal conflict in Bosnia Herzegovina since 1992. The conflict has been between Muslim led government and Bosnia Croats in the side and Bosnia Serbs on the other. Recently a local election has been completed on Bosnia Herzegovina.

Tell me education system in your country?

Our education system is divided into three categories at school. They are Primary, Secondary, and higher Secondary then bachelor and above.

Tell me about your favorite food and how it is cooked ?

My favorite food is meat. At first, I head the oil in a pan and add chopped onions. Then, adding the mean and spices  stirring  together I cover it and let sit for half an  hour and it's ready to eat.

What is civil police ?

Civil police is the rules or laws that are established to work with and control the civilians in a community ad keep them safe.

Tell me about the ethnic grouping in your home country ?

Nepal has more than 100 ethnic groups. they speak 192 different language. they are mainly divided according to region. The Tarai Region, the Hilly Region, the Mountain Region.

Tell me what you known about the United Nation ?

It is an organization which was established in 1945. It has 192 representative countries. It has made up of different organs for example- General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council.

The primary Purpose of the organization -

The primary objective of the organizations are the organization of international peace and security. The organization are also dedicated to the development of the friendly relations among nations based on the principals of equal rights and self determinations of peoples to achieve international co-operation in solving economic, social, cultural or humanitarian problems.
The UN is based on sovereign equality of it members disputes are to be settled by peaceful means and members undertake no to use force or the threat of force in contravention of the purposes of the UN.

What professional benefits are you hopping to gain from serving in the mission?

I hope develop wok experience and skill by working with international police to gain knowledge about different countries. Learnt about UN mandates and become aware of war situations in countries in conflict.

Describe to me security precautions you will need to take whilst here in the mission ?

I plane on following UN mandates, rules and regulations. Wear protective gears such as helmets, bullet proofs and carry guns and also be aware of my surroundings.

Tell me about the information you were give about the United Nations before you departed for the UN mission ?

I haven't had the opportunity to go on mission. So I am not aware of that information .
or They gave the countries description. They let us know how to be safe, where to go or not go. We were informed on the geography, the politics and economy.

Tell me you own words what your think that a human rights violation is.

I think it is blocking of someone's fundamental rights. Such as freedom of speech, education, religion and the right to work.
Tell me what action do you take if you saw a human rights violation in your country?

First of all I would inform the UN authority about the incident and the follow the UN regulations pertaining to the conduct allowed in these circumstances.

Describe the basic training your received when you first jointed the police ?

I received 1 year  basic training .

What is your outstanding to interact with your colleagues ?

I hope to work well with my colleagues by assisting them in any possible way by using my training and the knowledge I have gained in the armed police force.
or I think I will have no problems interacting with my colleagues because of sufficient knowledge of English and my supervising capabilities.

What are human rights ?

Human rights are a natural, basic and fundamental rights, which makes every individual, enjoys his life freely without violating other's   rights and freedom.

What is UN Peace Keeping operation ?

The peace keeping operation means the military operation conducted the area of conflict under the command of UN.

How do you drive in the hill area ?

We must check break, accelerator, gears, fuel, and other important part of the vehicle before driving in the hilly area. If all things are in good condition, when we can drive in the hill area but speed shouldn't be high. We have to be careful on the different traffic signal and modes of the hilly roads. our concentration must be focused on the driving.

Tell me what ethnic cleansing and genocide mean to you in relation to this mission?

Genocide is wiping out a race of people and ethnic Cleaning out a religious o cultural groups in a country. such as Hutus/ Tutsis in Rwanda.
Outline to me the advantage of working in the mission with police officers from your countries.
Having a fellow police officer from my own country would make adjusting a new country easier because of sharing responsibilities of settling in. However I don't fell in would be crucial for me because I am very adaptable.
Describe to me how you plan to build professional relationship with local police officers while you are here in the mission.
First of all I feel it's  important to show respect to the police officer I will be monitoring. I also feel important to do duty with them and share and comparing police systems between our countries.

Tell me why you want to be a part of this mission ?

Because I have always had the desire to work as a UN peacekeepers on an UN mission and I am proud of it. or I always wanted to work on a UN peace Keeping mission  or I think working on UN mission would give a wonderful opportunity to travel; learn UN polices and gain firsthand knowledge about how they are implemented.
What are your thought about living with a local family in the mission  ?

I think I would help to learn the language and culture quicker and adjust to the different environment OR Living with a local family on a mission would be a good thing. It would easier to adjust to a new environment; learnt the local language quicker; gain information about the  locality where I am stationed and learn the local diet so that I may adapt quicker.

What are duties of CIVPOL in the event of human rights violation in the mission area?

well the primary duty of UNCIVPOL is to see whether he condition of place and security in the mission area is good or not. however, in the event of human rights violation under the jurisdiction of his duty station, a monitor has to co-ordinate with the local police and look in the matter. such as atrocities, brutal punishment caused by the local police, religious or ethnic discrimination caused in the part of any authority especially the local police or UNCIVPOL themselves. Anyone convicted a criminal justice shall be treated with respect for his/her inherent dignity as a human person. In addition to this , they have to see that humanitarian goods are distributed peacefully or not.

What are the mandates of UNCIVPOL ?

Well, the mediate of UNCIVPOL is to monitor police against risks of their duties without discrimination against any nationality with full respect for human rights of all residents.

What do you think about the UN Mission is ?

UN mission is a force which is mobilized for peace security in conflict origination area in various nation.

Tell me  what  you expect to doing as a police monitor ?

I will be monitoring the performance of local police; conduct investigation provide guidance aimed at building a multi ethnic police services which respects the human rights or I fell the role of a police monitor on a mission entails; monitoring my designated area, watching and reporting any untoward incident to my superiors, writing report on my observation.

Are there any location in the mission area where you would not want to work ? why?

Any  locations would be acceptable.

Describe what you would do should you be taken hostage or kidnapping while on your mission?

I would adhere to the UN regulations and do nothing to provoke my captors and try to contact the mission as possible.

Describe the training for this mission which your received on your home country?

As an Armed police officer, we have received extensive training in; arms handling, riot control, security, VIP etc.


Tell me about the kind of Investigation training you have had?

I haven't had investigative training because my field of expertise is medical.

Tell me what you think is the most dangerous aspect of his mission?

I feel the most dangerous aspect of any mission will be the possibility of becoming a hostage; possibly getting robbed and may be some issues with water contamination in an undeveloped country.

What is sexual harassment ? 

Sexual harassment is an abuse against women either physical or verbal which takes  place without the consent of the woman.

Tell me about the role you perform back in your organization.

The most important role I perform is to protect and serve the public and maintain peace in the duty area.

In your country do police officers patrol on foot ? If they do what are the benefits? If not, how do they patrol ?

Yes, they patrol on foot. The main advantage of this is familiarity with their duty area, knowledge of their habitants, the ability to monitor tight areas and overall better community management.

Do you carry firearms while on patrol in your country if your do, tell me about the type of firearms training you received ?

Yes we carry firearms while on patrol. I have received firearms training in each course. Such as SLR, LMG, SMG, 9 mm pistol etc and especially I have had CI and Commando training too.

What ambitions do you have for your police career?

I hope in the future to obtain the rank of ………………

What equipment do you take with you when you go out on patrol ?

We take batons, flashlights, and a pair of handcuffs, radio set for long patrol dry food too.

Tell me what you consider to be the most important skills that a police officer should have.

The most important skills a police officer should have are the ability to investigate a crime, knowledge of firearms, driving skills, the ability to co-operate with the public, security management, riot control, natural disaster relief training etc.

Tell me about the type of equipment you would take with you to the scene of a burglary?

I would take the following the sense of burglary measuring tape, perimeter tape, finger print dusting equipment, a camera and a notebook and pen.

If you were stranded on a desert island what would you take with you and why ?
I would take basic survival gear such as a knife, gun, dry food, water tablets, some cooking utensils and matches.

Tell me about your country ?

Nepal is a country of many ethnic groups with mainly two different religions Hindus and Buddhism. The country is undivided into three geographical regions; the hill region, the mountain region and the Terai region which is flat. There are 192 different languages spoken in Nepal.

Tell me about the refugee problem in your home country.

Our main refugee problem is the Bhutanese refugees staying in camps in the Beldangi, Jhapa eastern region of Nepal. They have been there for many years. At Present, they are being repatriated to different countries, mainly the US.  

Tell me about tourism in your home country ?

Tourism in Nepal is one of the main industries; It brings in a lot of revenue for the country; people from all over the world come here to experience natural beauty of Nepal; it’s mountain [the highest in the world ] it's wild live such as tigers and rhinos and adventure sport such as Bungee Jumping and paragliding.

How would your family react to your departure if you go on mission?

They would initially be sad but overall they would be glad I would have this opportunity.

What do you expect from this interview?

I have done fairly well in every test and I am very hopeful that I will be selected.

What is the purpose of this interview ? why are that interviewing  you ?

The purpose of interview is assess the capabilities of the candidates whether hi is efficient enough to serve in trouble torn mission area of  or not.

What is community police ?

Community police generally mean the police personnel working in the community to control crime and provided security to the community with the help of community. Community police focus on crime and social disorder through the delivery of the police serve that include aspects of traditional law, enforcement as well as prevention, problems solving, community engagement and partnerships. Community police is reactive, response to call for service with pro-active problem solving centered on the cause of crime and disorder. Community police works with people directly by knowing their problems with being among them so people also feel more secure in presence of them. It is a great concept to make hand together with being among them so people as feel more secure in presence of them. It is a great concept to make hand together with police and public.

What is HRD?
Human are most powerful and sensitive resources in any organization so there should be a proper management of Human Resources. Any organization can be engaged in so many activities an department and it doesn't have time to concentrate on things pretending to employees. So far the reason there is a department made Human Resource Department. It woks hand to hand with employers as well as employee. It also manages with the minimum cost of benefits and requirement of the employee. Therefore, HRD is important.

What is security?

Security means to make safe that may be anything own, family any objects, VIP, VVIP, vital installation. Organization and it may be the nation too from any disorder. In other word to make safe from any violence, disorder, destroyed and unwanted things is the security. or Security is maintaining law and order so that the general messes feel safe and free to live their life without fear.

What is an investigation?

Investigation is the process of finding out what is true by researching, examining through scientifically, and hypothetical method of deduction. It is the process of getting real result in the presence of physical evidence and eyewitness. or it is process of face finding done by compiling and analyzing evidence both material and hypothetical after a criminal office takes place.

What do you know about Sudan?

Actually, I am no familiar with Sudan but I know little  bit about Sudan, well, I think Sudan is an African country, located in east Africa. The Origin of the Nile is in Sudan. People of Sudan economically depend on Agriculture/farming.

What do you think to do there ?

Well, go there as a CIVPOL monitor. I will do my duties as a UM mandates an respect Human rights.

Are you interested to serve in Sudan ?

Of course, I am eager to serve in Sudan and interact with people of Sudan.

Why do want to come to UN mission in Sudan ?

Well, I want to know about Sudan, Sudanese and their problem, their poverty, their compulsion. I always trying to keep peace and security there as a CIVPOL and hope you that I will be success. Actually am a police officer so I think it is my responsibility to go wherever UN sent me.

What is your family's reaction about your 1 year UN Mission Sudan?

Actually, my family is very happy and hopeful. They are proud of my going to Sudan mission.

What are the mandates of United Nations are to control arms and arms attack?

Coordinate the local police with local authority provide security in UNPA, collect information, keep peace, monitor, and maintain the records.

What duties do you think you have to do as a monitor?

Will according to the mandate provided by the UN Basically I would be working as a peace monitor there. Our duties are to co ordinate with local police and check any sort of violence and maintain law and order situation to ensure peace and security in the mission area. We have to protect the human rights, should also check weather humanitarians goods are distributed peacefully or not.

What qualities are required to ne good monitor ?

Well, a good monitor must always be ready to do his duty, efficient and alert, Besides, he/she should be decisive and versatile in his duties

What do you know human rights?

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity or should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. Thus, the human rights are mainly the rights of equality, right of freedom, rights of religion, right of property, rights of education, rights of information, right against arbitrary eviction, rights of free movement and rights of criminal justice irrespective various race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, notion or social origin, property birth and status of the people .

Tell what do you think democracy is ?

well, I think democracy is the political ruling system in the country in which people have right to choose their party, leader of delegation. In democracy people have right of equality, right of freedom, right of religion etc. According to the right of property, right of religion etc. According to the " Abraham Lincon   "democracy means by the people, to the people for the people. " So, in a democracy people are judge of all

How do you learnt English language ?

Well, actually I leaned English Language form my school/campus level because we learn English language as compulsory subject and daily practice at School College and travel of different countries. It is an international language so we have to known it.

Under what circumstances human rights are violated?

Human rights are deliberately violated when there a person or an organization is arbitrarily deprived of their fundamental birthrights such as right of living, liberty and security. Broadly speaking Human rights is violated when country or a part of country is in religious, political or en tic turmoil, during such civil wars freedom of speech, freedoms of movement are restricted with discrimination thereby violating human rights. On the other hand, people are subjected to torture with in human punishment or treatment. Sometimes, death penalty is also imposed with gross human rights violation.

Tell me about the most interesting case you have ever been involved in, why was it so interesting ?

I was on the patrol during the insurgency. I heading to my troops to Bhorletor While on patrol, we had to cross a bridge. I noticed a bomb hanging over the Bridge. I decided to throw a stone at the bomb to see if it was live. I threw the stone, it didn't blow up. Then we crossed the bridge.

Why did you decide to join the mission ?

To become a UN peacekeeper has always been my dream and I would be honored and privileged if you give me that opportunity.

What is domestic violence ?

Domestic violence that takes palace in a house generally between a husband and wife.

What is civil policy ?

Civil policies are rules and regulation that are used to protect and serve the public.

What is the most commonly crime in your country? Why Is that so?

The most commonly committed crime I fell is kidnapping. The reasons behind the kidnapping are desperation, revenge and political motives.

What is your goal in the police force?

I hope to go as high as possible ranks but ultimately my goal is to be a good police officer.

The United Nation is an international organization established to create international security and friendship among the member state. After the second world war, the allied nation established the United Nation on 24 December 1945 including 51 members state. Now 191 members state around the globe. The headquarters of the United Nation lies in New  York in the US and the branch for the Europe is lies in Switzerland.

Main Objective of the United Nations are as follows.
