  “Bag Snatching”
At 2000 hrs on Friday 7 August 2009, UNPOLs Donna Smith and Kelly Turner dined at ‘Hercules’ Restaurant on Beach Road in Dili.  At 2145 hrs they left the restaurant and walked across the road to a waiting taxi.  As UNPOL Smith spoke to the taxi driver, a motorcycle with 2 males rode alongside her and pulled her bag from her arm.  The purple bag was made of woven cloth and the shoulder strap snapped enabling the offender to take the bag.

The motorcycle then weaved around traffic and headed along Beach Rd in a westerly direction. The motorcycle did not have a license plate and because it was dark, both UNPOLs did not see the colour or type of motorcycle.  They did however see that the back passenger was wearing a thick orange jacket and that both riders wore black helmets.
Both UNPOLs got into the taxi and asked the driver to follow the motorcycle, however by the time they started off, the motorcycle was nowhere to be seen.  The taxi driver named Johnny drove the UNPOLs to Dili Police Station where they filed a complaint.  On the way to the station, UNPOL Turner called the National Operations Centre and advised them of what had happened.  UNPOL and PNTL patrols were dispatched to Beach Road, however they failed to locate the offenders.
As a result of this incident UNPOL Smith sustained severe bruising to her left arm and pain to her left shoulder.  Items inside the bag included $500 US dollars, reading glasses and her UN identification card and driver’s permit.
On 10 August 2009, the National Operations Centre received a report from a Singaporean national by the name of Miss Lee about a similar incident.  Miss Lee who works for a non-government organisation was returning to her vehicle after shopping at People’s supermarket on Stadium Road when her green coloured waist bag was ripped from her waist by two men on a motorcycle.  The incident occurred at 2010 hrs and because it was dark, Miss Lee was unable to give a description of the offenders.  She did see that the motorcycle did not have a license plate.
As a result of the incident Miss Lee was not injured, however she had $3000 US dollars and her Singaporean passport stolen.  Miss Lee attended Dili Police Station and reported the incident to UNPOL Kenny who was at the front desk.

On Thursday 13 August 2009, information was received that two brothers by the names of Antonio and Christopher Monday were responsible for these robberies along with approximately six others that had occurred in Dili in the preceding weeks.  The two brothers resided in Lake Tahoe with their mother who had noticed that they appeared to have large amounts of cash which were not theirs.  Their mother reported this to a family friend who then reported it to the PNTL.
As a result of the information received, UNPOL and PNTL conducted an operation and apprehended the two alleged offenders.  In their house they located several identification cards, credit cards, $5000 US dollars and numerous other personal items.  The alleged offenders were conveyed to Dili Police Station where they both admitted to committing nine robberies on internationals over a period of four weeks.  They stated that they selected internationals because they knew they carried large amount of cash and were easy targets.  The investigation is continuing.

“Assault”
Around 1515 hours on 27 November 2008 James Davis, aged 38years was driving a USAid vehicle with registration number 1263GH along the road from Airport to Dili.  There was one passenger in the vehicle, Michael Young, an American national aged 42years who was also employed by USAid.
The vehicle was approximately 300 meters from the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp when it collided with a motorcycle rider who pulled from the left side of the road without first checking for traffic.  The motorcycle rider Joseph Brown, aged 32 years sustained some minor bruising and scratches to his left hand and arm.
Michael Young wanted to drive Joseph to the local hospital for treatment however a crowd of angry locals totaling approximately 15 had formed around the accident scene and were yelling and pushing at Michael.  Someone from the crowd hit Michael with a large stick and several males threw large rocks at him hitting him in the face and arms.  The blow from the stick hit Michael on the right side of his head causing a large cut above his eye.  He removed his white shirt and wrapped it around his head to stop the flow of blood.  While this was occurring, the driver James Davis ran into the IDP camp to seek assistance.
Around 1530 hours a patrol from Airport Police Station arrived at the scene.  The patrol consisted of 2 UNPOL’s and 1 local police officer.  The UNPOL in charge was the OIC of Airport Station, a New Zealand UNPOL by the name of Daniel Lee.  UNPOL Lee approached Michael Young and inspected his wound.  He saw that the cut above his eye was about 7 centimeters long and was very deep.  In order to stop the angry crowd attacking again, UNPOL Lee placed Michael in his patrol vehicle and called for the assistance of another patrol.  UNPOL Lee then drove into the IDP camp with the local police officer in order to locate the driver of the vehicle.
A short time later a Dili Traffic Unit attended the scene and took over the investigation.  They identified an eyewitness by the name of Christopher Adam who stated that he knew the male who struck Michael in the head.  He said the male operated a shop inside the IDP camp and was wearing a red t-shirt with ‘Coca-Cola’ written on the front in large white letters.
This description was relayed to the National Operations Center by the Traffic unit.  UNPOL Lee heard the message and subsequently walked towards the shop inside the camp.  As he did so, he noticed a male about 19 years old, wearing black shorts and a red ‘Coca-Cola’ t-shirt walking towards the shop carrying a large stick.  He approached the male who identified himself as Anthony Smith.  Smith admitted that he struck the American on the head because it was his vehicle that caused the accident with his brother, Joseph.
Members from the Traffic Unit took Smith to Dili Police Station to continue with enquiries.  The large stick, which had blood on one end was taken and placed in the evidence room.  The USAid vehicle, a white Toyota Prado was driven to Dili Station by a member from the Traffic Unit.  The vehicle had sustained minor damage to the front bumper and left front door.  The motorcycle had major damage and was not repairable.
Michael Young was conveyed by ambulance to Dili hospital where he received 15 stitches to the cut on his head.  He was kept in hospital overnight for observation.
Enquiries in relation to this matter are continuing.

Incident Report #01

On 22 November 2006 at 0600 hours, Police Station # 4 of Laguna Region was reported of a dead body that was found in the Central Park. Alpha Unit responded to the scene of incident located at Grid Reference
114-253. At 0615 hours, two police officers arrived at the scene and observed a 165 cms tall female body lying in supine position behind the bush near the swimming pool. The face of the dead was disfigured and a U-shaped mark was seen on the right side of the neck. They searched the crime scene area and recovered a black leather bag, a 200ml empty bottle and a wrist watch. Two security guards were also interviewed. On the day before at 1830 hours, a guard named Daniel Seal had seen a girl with a man outside the changing room. He had inquired about their presence in the area as the swimming pool service of the Park had already closed an hour and a half before. The lights, then, suddenly went out and he went to see what had happened. He returned at 1900 hours after fixing the fused wire of the main switch but nobody was there. The guard identified the dead as the same young girl and claimed that he could recognize the man. He described the man as a 25-year-old muscular built about 180 cms tall with long dark brown hair, dark complexion and had the most unusual involuntary head movement. The description about the suspect was radioed to all police units and the dead body was sent to the hospital for post mortem.
Follow-up Report #02
On 23 November 2006 at 1000 hour, a woman from Brajislav Village came to the Police Station to report about her missing daughter Emilia Kusnova. She identified herself as Sejila Kusnova and reported to the Missing Person Unit that her 19-year-old daughter had left the house on 21 November at 1500 hours and did not come back since then. She expressed her concern over the disappearance of her missing daughter. At 1100 hour, she was taken to the mortuary; she noticed the birth mark on the right side of the neck and identified the dead as her own daughter. Three hours later, she arrived at the Police Station and informed the police about Emilia's fear from a man who lived in Vustri. She told the police that her daughter had once mentioned about a man named Roger Mulav who had asked her to marry him else she would face terrible consequences. At 1630 hours, 28-year-old Roger Mulav was arrested by Alpha Unit from his house in Vustri. The arrestee confessed threatening Emilia to marry him but he denied the allegation of murder.

Follow-up Report #03
On 24 November 2006, the post mortem report of Emilia revealed disfigurement of her face was due to acid and concluded her death due to asphyxia. From the report of the forensic lab it was determined that the empty bottle contained concentrated sulphuric acid and the fingerprint sample of Roger did not match with the fingerprint found in the surface of the empty bottle. Roger was released after receiving the forensic report and his features too did not match with the description of the suspect. At 1700 hours, Delta Unit, on the basis of the description of the suspect, arrested a person named James Blake from ‘Burmuda Café’ situated in the Hill Side. James told the police that he was a carpenter and denied the allegation. On the following day the guard from Central Park identified James as the same person he had seen in the park with the girl. The forensic test also confirmed that his fingerprint sample matched with the sample collected from the surface of the empty bottle. A charge sheet was filed against him for the murder of 19-year-old Emilia Kusnova.

Situation report # 01
Airport is the place where people meet and depart. Airport is the place what UN peacekeepers see upon their arrival in the mission. United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) started peacekeeping operation on 1-st October 2003. The first international police officers came to Liberia by air and landed at the Roberts International Airport, located 60 kilometers east from Monrovia.
The state of Liberia was founded in 1847 by immigrants of African descent who returned from the US to their native continent. The first president of Liberia was Joseph Jenkins Roberts. He was born in Norfolk, USA, on March 15, 1809, and arrived in Liberia in 1828 with his widowed mother, four brothers and two sisters. He was one of the famous Liberian-political figures of the nineteenth century. He lead Liberia to independence in 1847.He served as President of Liberia from 1847-1856 and from 1872-1876.
The main International Airport was built in the second half of the previous century and named after the first Liberian President - Roberts International Airport.
The reconstruction of the Liberian economy after the Civil war requires broad air connection with neighboring African countries and Europe. Much humanitarian Aid is being sent to Liberia by air and received at the Roberts International Airport.

Situation report # 02
UN peacekeeping equipment was mainly transported to Liberia by air. United Nations heavyweight cargo aircrafts only within one month had completed a series of flights, delivering 560 tons of equipment and supplies for UN peacekeeping forces in Liberia.
The second Liberian airfield is located in Monrovia and called Spriggs Payne Airport. This airfield is mostly used for domestic flights within Liberia.
UNMIL has two helicopter bases located at the Roberts International Airport and the Spriggs Payne airport. Helicopters, located at the Roberts International Airport are operated by the UN military personnel from Ukraine and helicopters from Spriggs Payne Airport are operated by the Russian civilian helicopter crew. A high level of safety of flights and strong technological discipline of both divisions participating in implementing peacekeeping operation in Liberia is being observed.
Situation report # 03
The United Nations personnel are authorized to use UN flights to fly from Liberia to Ghana and Sierra Leone. With effect from 15 October 2004 these flights are operated from Roberts International Airport three times a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. There is no charge for official duty travels. UN members have to submit approved Movement of Personnel form to the booking office at least 48 hours prior to the proposed flight. All Movement of Personnel forms should indicate a valid telephone number, where the traveler can be reached in the event of changes to the flight. Title:  Explosion

You are going to hear an interview between a CIVPOL monitor and two bystanders, one male and the other female. Both of them have witnessed the explosion that occurred at 17:05 hours on Tuesday 8th May 2002 in a house  in Boca Street in the central city of Pristina. The rear side of the house is totally damaged killing five people inside. The death include three children and two adult, both male. Two people have been suspected as they were seen entering the house from the backdoor masquerading as telephone maintenance team . It was a busy day and as lot of people were in the street, It is difficult to say exactly whether these men were the ones who committed the crime or there were some other people involved in the commission of act. CIVPOL Investigation team has arrived at the scene of crime. During investigation, the team interviewed a number of people who were the witness of the incident.

Civpol :– Hello! could you please tell me your name?
Bystander 1:–  My name's Ellis Santosh and my daughter's name is Julia
Civpol:- What you saw in the incident ?
Ellis Santosh :– Well, my daughter and I were walking around the market looking for the fresh vegetables and fruits. In the mean time, my daughter pointed at two men walking hurriedly towards the building located in front of us. A little later, there was a loud sound of an explosion and we ran to a corner for our safety.
Civpol:– And what's your name? Can you tell us what time was it ?
Bystander 2 :– Well, my name is Maker Reed. The incident occurred around 5 o'clock in the evening . It had just stopped raining and people were busy shopping before it stared to rain again.
Civpol:– Did you see the men that actually went into the house ?
Ellis Santosh :–  Well, as the owner of the house is my neighbor, I'd  heard that his telephone wasn't working for the past one or two days. When my daughter pointed towards the men carefully lurking  towards the house from the roadside, I caught sight of them. I thought they were the telephone mechanics who had come for the maintenance  of telephone.
Civpol:– Can you describe the men ?
Ellis Santosh:– They had on the uniform of the Tele-communication Company  but they were without their hats of the uniform. One was of average height around 30 years old and had a bald head. While the other was tall and lean and about 25 years of age. They weren't carrying any equipment that were needed to repair the line. e.g. they'd no wires and no telephone set. Coming to think of the incident now, they were carrying some kind of explosive item in a bag which seemed unusually heavy as the bag was very small.

Maker Reed:– Yes, they were very careful while heading towards the building.
Civpol :– How did you manage to see all this in the busy market ?
Ellis Santosh  :– When my daughter pointed at them I was continually watching their activities but I didn't know they had come with that mission.
Maker Reed:– Well, the others were busy doing their business but as there were no customer in my shop, I had a leisure time and I was smoking a cigarette. In the meantime, I saw two men walking unusual and they were very careful. At first I was shoked to watch them in their uniform without hats, as they resembled that of city police. Because...... actually, ..  we are not allowed to sell our things here.
Civpol  :– Didn't you go for the rescue of the people who suffered the explosion ?
Maker Reed:– Sir, the situation was so terrible that I was so frightened at the sound of the explosion. I have never been in such an incident before .
Civpol :– Can you relate what happened next ?
Maker Reed :–  After entering the house they spent about  10 minutes. They were seen checking the telephone or some other wires from outside. Within two or three minutes when they left the building, the bomb exploded causing the rear side of the building to be totally damaged. People were screaming  with terror and everyone was running for safety. I'm sure that nobody actually went into the house for the rescue of the victim.
Civpol :– Are you sure about what you saw ? If we find your statements are not true we'll have to take you into custody.
Maker Reed :– Of course, you can. I've no reason to lie about anything. Whatever I've said is true.
Ellis Santosh :– It must be the same two men and not the others who did this act.

Title:  THEFT OF PANASONIC TELEPHONE SET

Incident Report # 053479
On 11 November 2001 at about 1100 hours, Ms. Umlak Chantakul, administrative assistant of Erbil Sector of UNOHCI came to see Mr. Sidambaram Torosamy,  the  Administration OIC to  report about a missing  telephone set. The set in question  is a Panasonic model no. KX TS17 MX W was inside the telephone booth, which was installed at the ground floor of UNOHCI Building No.2. The telephone set was set there specially for private calls of UNOHCI staffs. As soon as  Mr. Torosamy, incidentally  the person responsible for the property, learnt about the incident, he inquired  Ms. Heshoo Ali of communications, a radio operator, and other UNOHCI staffs about the missing telephone. After getting no clue on  this matter, Mr. Sidambaram Torosamy reported the matter to UNGCI through a formal correspondence. The UNGCI Investigation Officer  commenced the investigation on the matter  on 10 December 2001.

Follow up Report # SSU 053479 -2

After visiting the scene of the occurrence and examining all circumstantial evidence and statements  of  witnesses , the Investigation officer came to ascertain that (a) UNOHCI Building No.2 at Ainkawa has five  internationals   and three local staffs, (b) The Panasonic telephone set  was last seen by UNOHCI  staff  Ms. Chantakul on 10 November 2001, (c) The keys of the entrance door of Building No. 2 are available only to four international  and two local staffs. The entrance door of the building is  open from 0800 to 2000 daily.  (d) on 11 November 2001, at about 1100 hours, Ms. Chantakul discovered that the telephone set was not  in the booth so she informed Mr. Torosamy .  It could be observed that the building No.2 does not have a clear-cut allocation of responsibility for its security, i.e. none of the staff members is assigned the overall responsibility of security, UNOHCI Building No.2 receives numerous visitors, it does not have register for the visitors, the building lacks telephone log book. The investigation process is obstructed because some of the staffs in UNOHCI have already been transferred to various other sectors or have returned to their respective countries after the completion of their one-year Tour of Duty (ToD).

Follow up Report # SSU 053479 -3

In view of the above mentioned observations and findings, it can be said that the telephone set was stolen at any time between 10 and 11 November 2001 because of the inadequate security arrangement in the building -2. It is not possible to identify the perpetrator of the theft due to the fact that a large number of people have access to the office without  proper checking from where the telephone set was stolen. PAUSE
At 2100 hours on Friday 15th September 2000 an Albanian male called Mentor, who lives in Pristina, at Grid reference 136 247, heard a knock at the front door of his house. When he opened it, he saw three masked men standing there. One of these men grabbed hold of him, held a hunting knife to his throat, and told Mentor, in Albanian, not to move or he would be killed. The other two men then entered his house and started to destroy the living-room furniture with a large hammer, which they had with them. The taller of the two men was dressed in green combat clothing and a red ski mask, and the shorter man was wearing blue trousers, a white jacket and a blue ski mask, all three were speaking Serbian to each other. When the two men had finished breaking the living-room furniture, they went upstairs and continued to destroy the furniture there. Later the shorter man in the white jacket came down the stairs and ran outside, returning shortly afterwards carrying a red plastic container. He poured petrol from the container over the broken living-room furniture and the tall man then set the furniture alight. The three men started to laugh and the one holding Mentor told him, in Albanian, that it was time the Albanians knew what it was like to have their homes destroyed. Mentor tried to break free, but was pushed to the ground and kicked in the stomach a number of times. The house was starting to fill with smoke, the tall man told him not to report the incident or they would cut his throat. The three men then ran from the house laughing. Mentor was able to crawl from the house into the street, where he saw, about one hundred meters down the street, the three men standing under a streetlight talking to another male person, who was giving them money. The three men then got into a white Alfa Romeo driving off in the direction of the hospital and the other person walked away towards the town centre. The Fire services arrived about five minutes later, by which time the house was well on fire, with flames leaping through the roof. The only items of property, which were saved from the house, were a clock and a satellite dish. Two UNMIK police patrols attended the scene and assisted in keeping people away from the fire. A Danish police officer took Mentor to the hospital in Pristina, for treatment to his left hand, which he had burnt saving the clock from the house. Mentor was requested to attend Police Station number one, Pristina, at 1200 hours the following day, to be interviewed.

PAUSE

At 0848 hours on Wednesday the 23rd of September 2000, UNMIK Police Officers from Pristina police station number 1 and units from KFOR responded to a coded alarm for a Bank Robbery in progress at the First Union Bank, Pristina. On arrival at the Bank UNMIK Police found a Bank employee and two cash security guards inside the building. They interviewed the employee, who stated that he was the Head Cashier of the First Union Bank and that he had started work early, about 0630 hours, because there was to be a delivery of a large sum of money. At 0645 hours he saw the Armoured Cash Truck, stop outside the bank and the security guards from the truck were opening the rear doors. A large black BMW stopped immediately behind the armored truck and two armed men jumped from the BMW and pointed their weapons at the guards. On seeing this cashier attempted to call the police by telephone, but the lines were busy. He was armed with a Glock 17 automatic pistol, so he went to assist the guards. On leaving the bank he was confronted by a third man who had a revolver. The cashier was shouted at, in Albanian, to put his pistol down or he would be killed, so he dropped his pistol. Then he and the two guards were taken into the bank, where the cashier was forced to open one of the offices. The armed men then tied the three together with rope and covered their mouths with yellow sticky tape, warning them not to try and escape. The armed men then left the office locking it behind them. At 0845 hours the bank staff came into work and found the cashier and guards locked in an office, so the manager activated the alarm. The cashier was able to describe the suspects as three young men. One was muscular, approximately 1.90   meters tall, the second man was well built about 1.75 meters tall and the third was quite thin about 1.60 meters tall. They all wore green military coveralls and had covered their faces with black ski masks. The two tall suspects were carrying shotguns and the third suspect was carrying a black revolver. A total of four million five hundred thousand German Marks, in various denominations, was taken from the Cash Truck. This large sum of cash was being delivered to pay United Nations personnel.

PAUSE

On Monday 1 of May 2000 about 0140 hours an Albanian male went to the local UNMIK Police Station and reported that an Armed Robbery had taken place at the Mini Market near the Stadium. When the Police Patrol arrived at the Mini Market, they found the Security Guard in an office, his hands were handcuffed behind his back and his mouth had been covered with tape. When they released the guard, he gave them the following information. He stated that he had been employed as a Security Guard at the Mini Market since November 1999 and he was responsible for the security of the building when it closed. On Sunday 30 April he started work at 2100 hours, he checked the building and found the doors and windows secure. After he had finished checking the building he went to his office to complete some paperwork.  He was listening to the radio, when at 0015 hours he heard a noise in the Mini Market. Before he could react, the office door opened and four males rushed in. They were all about 20 years old and all wearing blue ski mask, one of them was also wearing a red baseball hat. The one with the hat had an automatic pistol of some kind, which he held in his right hand and one of the others had a baseball bat, which he held in his left hand. The man with the gun pointed it at the guard and shouted at him, in Serbian, to sit still or he would be killed. Two of the males then gagged and bound him, the one with the baseball bat stayed with him. The others went out of the office and he heard them taking things out through the side door. About half an hour later the man with the gun re-entered the office warning him again to be quiet, then all four left the Mini Market through the side door. He believed the persons were Serbian as they talked to each other and him only in Serbian.  He waited for sometime before trying to raise the alarm, he was eventually heard by the guard of the store next door, who reported the incident to the UNMIK police. This person also stated that at 0045 hours that night he saw a dark colored Mercedes leaving the Mini Market car park, towards the Airport. The Police and the guard carried out a check of the building, they found a rear window had been forced open. The victim stated that 28 cases of Whiskey and 53 boxes of cigarettes had been taken, however all the money was still in the safe.

PAUSE

At 1600 hours on Monday 26 March 2001, a German KFOR unit reported to the UNMIK Regional Headquarters in PRIZREN City, that a large group of males were acting suspiciously in the area of MANASTIRICA Village. This village is known to have a large concentration of the ethnic group called ‘Gorans’ and these people have been the target of several racist attacks during the last six months. Two UNMIK police patrols from the local police station were sent to the area. A German KFOR patrol and a German KFOR Helicopter supported them.
At 1615 hours the KFOR Helicopter reported seeing three men dressed in military style coveralls, disappear into a forest at Grid reference 839650. A further UNMIK police patrol was sent from PRIZREN to search the area but this patrol was unable to find the men. However, enquiries with a local farmer revealed that he had seen the three men described walking along the road towards PRIZREN. This information was passed to the UNMIK Regional Headquarters.
At 1625 hours the KFOR Helicopter directed the joint UNMIK police and KFOR patrol to Grid reference 841648, where the helicopter crew had seen a group of 7 men walking across the fields. At 1630 hours this group were stopped by the joint patrol. When questioned these persons said that they were Albanian refugees, running away from the conflict in Macedonia.  They were unable to show any identity documents, stating that the Macedonian Police had taken their passports from them. These men were dressed in different types of military clothing and each carried a large rucksack. When the 7 men realized that they were to be searched, they confronted any actions by the police and the KFOR patrol. It was only after two warning shots, fired by Sergeant Heinz MULLER, a patrol sergeant of the KFOR unit, that the search was able to be carried out. The search uncovered 3 AK47 with 60 rounds of ammunition, 25 hand grenades and 5 Chinese made military radios.  In order to ensure that all these items were safe to handle, the KFOR Bomb Clearing Unit was called, arriving at the scene at 1715 hours. The items were retained by the Bomb Clearing Unit for further examination, before being presented for forensic examination. The seven men were arrested for unlawful possession of weapons and ammunition and removed from the scene under escort. They were taken to PRIZREN, where the investigative judge confirmed their arrest and detention.

On Friday 17 November 2006, at 2145 hours, an incident involving a grievious bodily harm was reported to Police Station # 3. The caller who reported the case identified himself as Gustav Magbule, 35-year-old restaurateur. He stated that two persons were assaulted by four young boys inside his restaurant named ‘Velocity’, situated in the downtown at Terina Street No 14.

Immediately a patrol unit was dispatched to the scene of the incident. On arriving at the scene of the incident at 2155 hrs, the two police officers of patrol unit observed that the tables inside the restaurant were messed up and there were pieces of broken glasses, an iron rod and pool of blood on the floor. The restaurant owner stated that a group of young boys were sitting and drinking beer from 19.00 hrs. At 21.15 hrs Roberto Guerra and his friend Jose Cruz arrived and sat on the table next to those boys. The boys were starting to make a lot of noise and were using abusive language. After 10 minutes Roberto requested the boys to speak slowly but the shortest of the boys hit him on his head with a beer bottle and he fainted. When Jose stood up to stop the boys they started to beat him also. A boy wearing a blue baseball cap took out an iron rod from his bag and struck on the head of Roberto and they all fled. They left in two cars speeding towards Vernia, south from the restaurant. Both the injured were taken to the city hospital, about 3 kilometers north from the restaurant.

The restaurant owner described the four boys as young in their early twenties and they were all wearing jeans pants and jackets. One was 185 cms tall, dark and heavily built, the second one was 180 cms tall, thin and was wearing a blue baseball cap, the third one was also 180 cms tall and stout and the fourth one was the shortest of the four 165 cms tall and muscular built. The restaurant owner also described the two cars; one was a black coloured Opel Corsa with License Plate No 121-SD-152 and the second one was a white coloured Skoda Aura with License plate No 142-SD-555.

Shortly later at 22.05 hrs, investigation unit arrived at the scene and collected the fragments of broken glass pieces, the iron rod and blood sample for evidence. Police investigator asked the restaurant owner to come to the police station to give his statement and left the scene.

At 22.30 hrs, the patrol unit arrived at the city hospital and found out that Jose Cruz had received three stitches above right eyebrow and minor treatment for the bruises on his right cheek bone and temple, whereas, Roberto required emergency surgical treatment and was inside the operation theatre. After sometime, the attending doctor advised the police officers that the operation was over but the patient was still in a very critical condition due to middle meningeal artery haemorrhage and was unconscious. The doctor told them that he would telephone them at Police Station # 3, as soon as the patient became conscious, and is able to have conversation.

PAUSE
On Sunday 25 December  2005 at 08.00 hours Police Station North received a report of  theft that took place in Donyabernica Grid Reference 285-362,. The caller identified himself as a 40-year-old Serbian named Andrew Krazivic. A patrol unit immediately responded and arrived at the scene at 08.15 hours. Two police officers observed that the two-storied house owned by Andrew Krazivic was broken into from the window of the room in the second floor. The police officers discovered the traces foot prints on the perimeter wall on the northern side of the house, which led to the balcony and followed to the window of the reading room in the second floor. Inspection of the window revealed that the window glass was smashed from outside and opened. Police also recovered an iron bar inside the room. The locker of the reading room was left untouched. However, Andrew claimed that goods and valuables worth approximately 2000 euros were stolen from the adjacent guest room. Andrew stated that two gold bracelet, one diamond ring, three gold coins, an old Pentax camera and two antique watches, which belonged to his mother, were missing from the locker of the guest room. 200 euros in cash, a pair of sunglasses and other items which were in the same locker were, however, left behind. The doors of the rooms in the second floor normally remained unlocked as the door leading to the second floor was always secured with a lock. All the family members were awake until 01.00 hrs because there was a party on the occasion of Andrew’s 9-year-old son’s birthday. It was Andrew’s wife who first noticed the open window and smashed glass. Andrew’s wife woke him at 06.00 hours and informed him about the broken window glass of the room in the second floor. The victim did not suspect anyone but he felt that it was done by someone who was familiar with his house and knew about the stolen items.
Police took photographs of the foot prints and of the window and the locker and collected footprints, fingerprints, broken glass pieces and the iron bar as evidence before leaving the scene. Police also asked the owner of the house to come to the police station.
The following conversation is dialogue between investigation officer and the victim.

Investigation Officer: Good Morning. Thank you for coming.
Victim: Good Morning Sir.
Investigation Officer: Could you please tell me your name and where do you live?
Victim: My name is Andrew Krazivic and I live in Donyabernica  Grid Reference 285-362.
Investigation Officer: What is your age and what do you do?
Victim: I am 38-year-old and I am a school teacher.
Investigation Officer: Tell me what were you doing on the night of 25 December 2005?
Victim: I was celebrating the birthday of my 9-year-old son with my family on that day.
Investigation Officer:  What happened after the party?
Victim: The party was over at 0100 hours. I went up and checked all the rooms in the second floor and also the gate. They were all secured. Then we went to bed.
Investigation Officer: What happened then?
Victim: My wife woke me up at around 06.00 hours and told me that glass of the window of my reading room on the second floor was smashed and was left open. She feared someone might have broken-in into the room. I immediately went up and unlocked the main door of the second floor. When I went inside I found that somebody had been inside as the locker of the guest room was opened.
Investigation Officer: So you mean that somebody had been inside through your reading room and then to the guest room where he/she had opened the locker?
Victim: Yes.
Investigation Officer: What did you see after that?
Victim: I looked inside the reading room. Everything seemed to be in place. But when I went inside the guest room, I could see the locker of the room was broken.  I quickly checked inside the locker and I found that two bracelets, one diamond ring, one old manual camera Pentax and two antique watches were missing. However, 200 euros, a pair of sunglasses and other items inside the locker remain untouched.
Investigation Officer: What should be the cost of the goods and valuables that have been stolen?
Victim: Around 2000 euros.
Investigation Officer: Do you suspect anyone who could have done this?
Victim: I don't suspect anyone. But in the manner in which the theft has taken place I have a feeling that it is someone who had been in my house before and knew that those stuffs were there.
Investigation Officer: Alright, thank you. We will take this case seriously and advise you on the progress of the investigation.
Victim: Thank you Sir, Good-bye.

People around the world like to listen to the radio. People listen to the radio at home, at work, in the car and in the streets. People learn news, weather forecast and listen to the music. More Liberians began walking with radio in hands listening to the news and music. Three main radio stations in Monrovia operating on FM frequency: Music radio on frequency 90, 2. Walking home John saw a poster on the wall of the Police station in the center of Monrovia and read that applicants, who successfully meet basic criteria in fitness, written, psychological and medical tests would be invited for interview at the Police HQ.
